My Approach

I believe high-quality online learning begins with what learners need to do.

That means starting with outcomes and authentic application, then designing assessments, learning activities, instructional materials, media, and technology that support those outcomes.

I am influenced by adult learning theory, Quality Matters, user-centered design, and action-first thinking, including Dr. Karl Kapp's Action First Framework.

I also believe faculty partnership matters. Subject-matter experts bring disciplinary knowledge, context, and professional experience. Instructional designers bring learning design, structure, accessibility, technology, and quality expertise. My job is to create the conditions in which those strengths work together.

What Makes My Perspective Different

My background crosses corporate branding and project management, instructional design, higher education teaching, writing and rhetoric, communications, and online-program leadership. That combination helps me see a course from multiple angles: as a learning experience, a communication system, a project, a faculty partnership, and, most importantly, a student journey.

My earlier work in marketing, writing and communications still influences how I design today. I care deeply about voice, story, clarity, audience, and relevance.

I am a lifelong learner, an avid reader, a strategic thinker, a connector, and a believer that kindness and high quality standards can absolutely occupy the same room. I love ideas, strong coffee, physical books, little free libraries, creative problem-solving, team collaboration, and the moment when a complicated course finally clicks into a coherent learning experience.
